  17. <p>     As the Worm Turns: All New Episode
  18. </p>
  19. <p>     Arenas will light up this week for the opening of the pro basketball
  20. season, but the N.B.A. will seem less bright without the neon-hued
  21. hairdos, tattooed biceps and pierced navel of DENNIS RODMAN.
  22. "The Worm," as the San Antonio Spurs' forward is fondly known,
  23. has been suspended for three games for skipping practice and
  24. chucking ice at a referee in preseason. Last year Rodman led
  25. the league in rebounds, technical fouls and scandals--like
  26. the time he received Madonna in the team locker room. Rodman
  27. and Madonna are an item no more, but the post-Madonna Worm seems
  28. the same as ever: a prima donna.

  30. <p>     Carre Tries to Slip a Mickey
  31. </p>
  32. <p>     Once he shackled her to his Harley, photographing her slathered
  33. in motor grease. Since model CARRE OTIS broke up with actor
  34. MICKEY ROURKE six months ago, she has been free of such displays
  35. of affection. But last week Rourke was lurking at the fall fashion
  36. shows in Manhattan. "I wish he would stay away," said Otis,
  37. fearing he was stalking her. Not so, said Rourke, "I come in
  38. peace." The next night he trashed his $5,000-a-night hotel suite.

  40. <p>     A Jack and Maybe a King
  41. </p>
  42. <p>     Seeking refuge from the public relations Waterloo caused by
  43. his indiscreet new biography, the PRINCE OF WALES arrived in
  44. Los Angeles last week for a little image mending. There Charles
  45. struck his best pose of unruffled regality. He attended the
  46. premiere of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein ("I love a good horror
  47. movie," he said), schmoozed with fellow bachelor Jack Nicholson
  48. and took tea with pop princess Barbra Streisand. The man who
  49. might or might not be King could count his trip a success just
  50. by finishing the week without launching yet another royal scandal.

  52. <p>SEEN & HEARD
  53. </p>
  54. <p>     In the U.S., such a revelation might bring down an Administration,
  55. or at least prompt a week's coverage on Hard Copy. But in France,
  56. the publication of a photo of MAZARINE MITTERRAND, 20, the illegitimate
  57. daughter of married French President Francois Mitterrand, provoked
  58. no outrage. Mazarine's existence had been an open secret, but
  59. she and Dad have recently been seen together in public more
  60. frequently.

  62. <p>     At first it seemed like just another celebrity palimony suit.
  63. The target: folk-music icon BOB DYLAN. But the plaintiff, RUTH
  64. TYRANGIEL, not only claims that she was Dylan's virtual wife--she also says she co-wrote some of his new songs.
